Effectively reduces swelling.
Elidel is a cream that contains a type of drug called a calcineurin inhibitor (TCI). It can help treat inflammatory skin conditions like atopic and discoid eczema.
To help treat your eczema symptoms, order Elidel online with us and we’ll deliver the next working day.
Elidel contains pimecrolimus, a non-steroidal drug that works as an anti-inflammatory. It's in a group of drugs called topical calcineurin inhibitors (TCI). These block a chemical produced by the immune system, to help reduce swelling and control eczema flare-ups. TCIs are usually given to eczema patients who find their symptoms don’t get better with topical steroids and emollients.
Atopic eczema is the most common type of eczema, affecting millions of people worldwide. It causes a variety of symptoms, like itching, swelling and redness and can range from mild to severe. Discoid eczema is another type of eczema, characterised by small circular patches that appear on the skin. As the condition progresses, they can form into larger patches that are itchy and red, making them harder to treat. Elidel cream is used off-label for discoid eczema.
People with eczema have an overactive immune system, making them more prone to inflammation. This happens because of a protein called calcineurin, which can promote inflammation. TCIs, like pimecrolimus, can help by blocking the action of calcineurin. Pimecrolimus works by interacting with a protein called FKBP, which prevents calcineurin from causing inflammation in the skin.

To apply Elidel, follow the instructions below:
If you’re also using emollients, you can apply these straight after Elidel.
It can take around two weeks to a month to see a noticeable change in your eczema when taking Elidel. Your clinician will generally prescribe you a six-week course of Elidel, but if after this time you see no improvements, you’ll normally be recommended to stop using it. If you find your eczema is better in less time than this, let your clinician know. They might stop your treatment early or reduce your dose.
If you accidentally apply too much, just wipe the excess from your skin. If you forget to apply a dose, apply it as soon as you remember, unless it's close to your next scheduled dose. In this case, skip the missed dose and continue with your normal dosing schedule.
