- in five studies, with a total of 572 participants, they were found to be effective at reducing eczema symptoms;
- in seven studies, with a total of 749 participants, they were found to reduce itching;
- in 12 studies, with a total of 1281 participants, they were found to reduce the severity of eczema; and:
- in six studies, with a total of 607 participants, they were found to reduce flare-ups.
So we can say with some certainty that emollients are an important and effective part of treating and managing eczema.
