Bettamousse Betamethasone
What is Bettamousse?
Bettamousse is a branded corticosteroid foam that you apply to your head to treat psoriasis. Sometimes it’s also used for dermatitis or eczema that affects the scalp.
If you have psoriasis on your scalp, Bettamousse can get rid of the flakes, scaly skin and redness. It’s stronger than most corticosteroids and more effective than most standard treatments.
How does Bettamousse work?
Bettamousse contains the active ingredient betamethasone. It’s a type of drug called a corticosteroid that reduces inflammation.
Psoriasis is caused by your immune system attacking healthy skin cells and creating inflammation. This inflammation creates the redness and flaking you see on your scalp. Bettamousse reduces the inflammatory response and suppresses the immune system, healing your symptoms.
What doses of Bettamousse are there?
Each gram of Bettamousse contains 1mg of the active ingredient betamethasone. You should apply it twice a day. Use enough to cover the scaly area, no bigger than the size of a golf ball. Don’t use more than you need.

How to take Bettamousse
You should apply Bettamousse exactly as our clinician tells you. If you’re using our service, you can contact our experts at any time for more guidance.
To apply Bettamousse:
- take the cap off the bottle and turn it upside down
- squirt the amount needed onto a clean surface, like a plate (don’t use your hand as the mousse will melt)
- massage the mousse into the areas of your scalp that are inflamed
- wash your hands
- leave your scalp to dry
Don’t wash your hair soon after applying Bettamousse. If you apply Bettamousse in the morning, leave it on through the day. If you’re putting it on in the evening, leave it on overnight.
How long does it take Bettamousse to work?
You’ll usually see your psoriasis getting better in just a few days. If it doesn’t get better within a couple of weeks, sign in to your account and send our clinician a message.
What should I do if I make a mistake while taking Bettamousse?
If you put too much Bettamousse on your scalp, wash your head immediately and start again. If this only happens once you should be fine, but you can get in touch with us if you’re concerned. If you use too much Bettamousse regularly you may experience side effects.
If you forget to take Bettamousse, don’t take a double dose next time. Just keep taking your normal dose until your treatment is over.
