Hylo-Forte eye drops are used to moisturise your eyes when they feel dry. They’re free from preservatives and phosphates, and work to soothe your discomfort and keep your eyes well-hydrated. They can be helpful for people with blepharitis, as dry eyes are a common symptom of this condition.
Blepharitis is a common eye condition where eyelids become inflamed and irritated, often resulting in redness, itching and a gritty sensation. It can affect people of all ages and may lead to crusting of the eyelids, excessive tearing and discomfort.
This condition is often chronic and can be caused by various factors, including bacterial infections or problems with the oil glands in your eyelids. While there’s no cure for blepharitis, it can usually be managed with good eyelid hygiene and certain treatments.
Hylo-Forte contains sodium hyaluronate (SH), a form of hyaluronic acid found naturally in your body, including your eyes. SH forms a moisturising layer on your eye's surface to protect your cornea (the clear, outermost layer of your eye covering the iris and pupil) and conjunctiva (transparent membrane covering the inner eyelids and white part of your eye). This layer helps the eyelid move smoothly over the eye, relieves eye discomfort and protects your eye from further irritation.
These eye drops are smartly delivered using the Continuous MonoDose (COMOD) system, which ensures they remain sterile and sealed airtight without any need for preserving agents. And because it's preservative-free and phosphate-free, Hylo-Forte is generally well-tolerated and avoids potential complications from deposits forming in your eye.
Hylo-Forte comes in a single dose, providing 225 drops of solution (7.5 ml). Each ml of this solution contains 2 mg of sodium hyaluronate, along with sorbitol, citric acid, sodium citrate and water for injections.

It’s important to always follow your clinician’s instructions when using Hylo-Forte – typically, it's one drop in each eye three times a day, but you can use it more often if needed. If your symptoms persist, worsen, or you find yourself needing it frequently (more than 10 times a day), ask for advice from your clinician. They might recommend a different treatment for you.
Using Hylo-Forte is typically safe, but overuse can cause a rebound effect. This means the blood vessels in your eyes narrow too much, depriving your eyes of oxygen and nutrients. In response, your body might react by widening the blood vessels, leading to increased redness and irritation in your eyes.
