YourFibre is a laxative drink that can relieve constipation. It contains ispaghula husk, a fibrous bulking agent that helps you pass your stools more easily. It comes in a sachet that contains orange flavoured granules — you add this to water to make a drink you can take up to three times a day.
Constipation can have lots of different causes, such as spending long amounts of time sitting down, not drinking enough fluid, and ignoring natural urges to use the toilet. It can also develop as a result of not getting enough fibre from your diet. YourFibre is a fast way of adding this fibre, which can help you have more regular bowel movements and relieve uncomfortable constipation symptoms.
Ispaghula husk, the active ingredient in YourFibre, is a bulking agent. It’s a plant-derived supplement that contains dietary fibre. It works by increasing the water content of your stools, while at the same time lubricating your large intestine and making a bowel movement happen more comfortably.[1]
Ispaghula husk needs to be taken with lots of fluid, which is why YourFibre is mixed with water. You can take it up to three times a day to relieve constipation.
YourFibre comes in boxes of 30 sachets. Each sachet is mixed with 150ml of water, which is a quarter of a pint.
The sachets contain 3.5g of ispaghula husk. You can use between one and three sachets each day, according to your needs.

When we present you with stats, data, opinion or a consensus, we’ll tell you where this came from. YourFibre is easy to use. Mix a single sachet with 150ml of water. Stir it well and drink right away.
When you’re trying to increase your dietary fibre, it’s recommended you drink between six to eight glasses of water a day. Not drinking enough fluid is known to contribute to constipation, so it’s best to drink as much as you can if you’re having trouble passing your stools.
YourFibre might relieve constipation faster for some people than it does others. Ispaghula husk usually starts to work between 12 to 24 hours after you’ve used it, which means you might feel some laxative effects right away.[1]
It often takes two to three days to reach its maximum effect in the body though, which means your constipation might not be relieved instantly. If after three days you don’t think YourFibre is working, let a clinician know and they can recommend a different constipation treatment.
You should always take YourFibre exactly as it’s been prescribed. If you forget to drink YourFibre at your usual time or miss a dose, don’t take double the dose by using more than one sachet. Doing so can cause unwanted side effects, and won’t make the supplement work any more effectively.
If you feel like YourFibre is making you feel unwell in any way, stop using it and let a clinician know. YourFibre is a supplement, and shouldn’t be the only source of fibre you’re getting. While using the sachets, try to eat a varied, balanced diet.
