Daily tablets that help control urinary incontinence.

Betmiga is an easy to use and effective treatment for overactive bladder syndrome. The prolonged release tablets deliver the active ingredient over an extended period of time, so that you can benefit from its effect for the entire day.
Tell our team of clinicians about your health and we will find the best treatment option for you.
Betmiga is an effective medication for overactive bladder syndrome. Common symptoms of an overactive bladder are:
sudden need to go to the bathroom and empty your bladder - known as urgency
need to urinate more often than usual - known as increased urinary frequency
accidental urine leakage - known as urgency incontinence.
There are many factors that can cause these issues, ranging from drinking too much alcohol or caffeine, to bladder inflammation, or nerve injury. Other potential causes also include urinary tract infections or increased pressure on your tummy caused by pregnancy or being overweight.
Betmiga contains an active ingredient called mirabegron, which works by relaxing the muscles of the bladder. By doing this, it reduces the urgent need to use the bathroom and helps you regain control over your bladder.
Mirabegron, the active ingredient in Betmiga, works by activating specific receptors in the smooth muscle of the bladder, known as beta-3 receptors. As a result, the bladder muscles relax, allowing the bladder to hold more urine and contract less frequently. This means you'll have fewer instances of sudden urges to pee and fewer unplanned trips to the bathroom.
Betmiga also has a very clever way to deliver the active ingredient in your body, called slow release or prolonged release. This means that the tablets release the active ingredient slowly and steadily into your body over time. By doing so, the tablets maintain a steady level of the drug in your system, providing you with a more consistent and long-lasting effect. So, the great thing is, you don't need to take them as often as regular tablets.
Betmiga tablets are available in two different dosages: Betmiga 25mg and Betmiga 50mg. Usually, the recommended dose for adults is one 50mg tablet by mouth once a day. In some cases, for instance if you have kidney or liver problems, your clinician may reduce your dose to one 25mg tablet by mouth once daily.

Remember to always take your medicine exactly as your doctor advises. Here are a few general guidelines to follow:
While what time of day you take it is not important, it’s best to take Betmiga at the same time each day. This will help you to build a habit and remember to take the pill.
Mirabegron, the active ingredient in Betmiga, starts to work pretty quickly in your body. It only takes about 3 to 4 hours for it to reach peak levels in your bloodstream and start relaxing the muscle surrounding your bladder.
Don’t be alarmed if you don’t notice an immediate effect, you need to stick with it for the long haul. This is because it can take between 4 to 8 weeks for you to notice major improvements in your symptoms.
If you accidentally take more Betmiga tablets than prescribed or if someone else takes them unintentionally, you should seek immediate help from your doctor, pharmacist or hospital. An overdose of Betmiga may cause symptoms such as a strong or forceful heartbeat, a faster pulse or higher blood pressure levels.
If you forget to take your medication, take the missed dose as soon as you remember, unless you have less than 6 hours before your next scheduled dose. In this case, skip the missed pill and continue with your regular medication schedule. You should not take a double dose to make up for the forgotten one. If you miss several doses, inform your doctor and ask for guidance.
