Alexi is an antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections, such as urinary tract infections (UTIs) in women. It comes as a sachet you dissolve in water, and you only need to take one dose to clear it.
UTIs are one of the most common bacterial infections worldwide. Most UTI cases are uncomplicated, and don't always need treatment as they can resolve on their own. But taking antibiotics like Alexi can speed up the treatment process and improve your symptoms quicker.
Alexi contains fosfomycin, which is an antibiotic that kills many bacteria including E.coli, the most common cause of UTIs. It works by inhibiting the enzymatic reaction that produces peptidoglycan – an important component in making bacterial cell walls. Without a cell wall, bacteria cannot grow and reproduce.
Furthermore, fosfomycin stops the bacteria from sticking to your urinary cell walls. Normally bacteria adhere to multiply, leading to infections. But without this, the bacteria can be easily excreted through urine, reducing the likelihood of infections.

If you accidentally took more than the recommended amount, contact your doctor or pharmacist for medical guidance.
There’s only one dose of Alexi available, a 3g sachet. Usually only one dose is needed to clear the infection.
