What is Zineryt?
Zineryt is an acne solution that contains two active ingredients: an antibiotic, which works to kill the bacteria that cause your acne, and zinc acetate, which has been shown to help repair damaged skin.[1]
Zineryt works by getting to the root cause of your acne, by stopping the bacteria that cause it from spreading and thriving on your skin.
How does Zineryt work?
The surface of your skin is made up of pores, but, usually between the ages of 12 and 25 because of a change in your hormone levels, you start producing more sebum – a waxy substance that occurs naturally on your skin. When you have too much sebum on your skin, it can block your pores, and encourage the bacteria that lie on your skin to feed on it and produce waste products that lead to the development of spots and acne.
Erythromycin, the antibiotic component of Zineryt, works by stopping your skin’s bacteria from producing a protein that’s necessary for them to reproduce. Because of this, they stop spreading, allowing your skin to heal and for your body’s immune system to kill them off. The zinc acetate that’s also in Zineryt works to help to speed up your skin’s healing process.
What doses of Zineryt are there?
There’s only one dose of Zineryt. You should use it, as instructed, for 10-12 weeks to allow it time to get to work before deciding whether it’s working for you as you’d hoped. If this treatment isn’t working for you after this time then let our clinician know, they may advise that you try another treatment.

How to use Zineryt
You should always use Zineryt exactly as our clinician has instructed you to. The standard dose is to use Zineryt twice a day.
To use Zineryt:
- first wash the affected area
- unscrew the protective cap
- turn the bottle upside down and place the pad against your skin, spreading the solution around the affected area
- the flow of the solution can be increased by pressing the pad more firmly onto your skin
- make sure that the solution doesn’t get into your eyes, mouth or nose, and if you accidentally apply too much solution, gently blot it off with a tissue.
How long does it take Zineryt to work?
Many people start to notice the effects from using Zineryt within a couple of weeks, but it can often take 10-12 weeks before people notice the full effect. If you haven’t noticed any difference after using Zineryt for 12 weeks, let our clinician know – you might need to try another treatment.
what should I do if I make a mistake when using Zineryt?
If you’ve accidentally used too much Zineryt – blot the excess off with a tissue, and you should let a clinician know straight away if you accidentally swallow Zineryt.
Try not to miss doses of Zineryt, as it will delay your healing process, but if you do – you can use it when you remember so long as you leave at least three hours between applications. Don’t use more Zineryt than you’ve been told to in order to make up for missed doses.
