What is Corsodyl mouthwash?
Corsodyl mouthwash is a treatment that’s used to treat mouth ulcers. It also helps with a condition called halitosis, which is more commonly known as bad breath. Mouth ulcers can be painful and irritating, and halitosis can really knock your confidence. Corsodyl helps you get back to normal fast.
Corsodyl is an antibacterial mouthwash. You just have to swish it around your mouth twice a day for it to start working. When you use Corsodyl, it kills off the bacteria in your mouth that can lead to bad breath. It also helps mouth ulcers heal more quickly and stops them from getting infected.
How does Corsodyl work?
Corsodyl mouthwash contains 0.2% of the active ingredient chlorhexidine. Chlorhexidine is a disinfectant and antiseptic which has antibiotic properties. This helps to limit the harmful bacteria and microorganisms in your mouth.
Bad bacteria in the mouth can cause recurrent halitosis, which is bad breath not linked to food you’ve recently eaten or another cause. An overgrowth of bacteria can also make mouth ulcers heal more slowly, or cause them to get infected. Corsodyl prevents this and helps you heal with an easy to use mouthwash.
What doses of Corsodyl are there?
To treat both mouth ulcers or halitosis you should use one 10ml capful of Corsodyl antiseptic mouthwash twice a day. It’s easy to know how much to measure out. There’s a fill line in the cap which shows you where to stop. Always stick to this measured dose.
You can usually use Corsodyl until your halitosis or mouth ulcer has disappeared. When your mouth ulcer has healed, keep using it for two days afterwards. If your mouth ulcer remains for more than three weeks, talk to your clinician. Also, if your halitosis hasn’t resolved after a few weeks, go back to your clinician. You might need another treatment.
