Driclor solution is a roll-on treatment for hyperhidrosis - a condition that causes excessive sweating due to the overstimulation of sweat glands. You can apply Driclor solution to your armpits, hands and feet, which are the most commonly affected areas.
Driclor solution is a strong antiperspirant treatment that contains the active ingredient aluminium chloride hexahydrate. This active ingredient binds the water molecules on the surface of your skin, building a barrier across your sweat glands. This stops excessive sweat from leaving your sweat glands.
Driclor solution contains 20% of the active ingredient aluminium chloride, but you might need to apply it more or less per day, depending on your symptoms and the advice of our clinician.
But it does come in different sizes. You can get a small 20ml bottle, a medium 60ml bottle, or the largest one at 75ml. Which one is suitable for you will depend on how long you’re going to be treated for. If you’re going for short-term treatment, or want to try the medication before you commit to a larger bottle, the 20ml one will be the best option for you. If you want long-term treatment, you can either pick the 60ml or 75ml bottle.
How we source info.
When we present you with stats, data, opinion or a consensus, we’ll tell you where this came from. And we’ll only present data as clinically reliable if it’s come from a reputable source, such as a state or government-funded health body, a peer-reviewed medical journal, or a recognised analytics or data body. Read more in our editorial policy.
You should always follow the advice of our clinician, as well as the instructions in the package information leaflet that comes with your treatment, when using Driclor solution.
To use Driclor solution:
Driclor solution starts working relatively quickly. You should start to see some improvement in your hyperhidrosis within a week or two of starting treatment.
If it’s been over three weeks and you’ve yet to notice any benefit, you should ask our clinician for advice on how to proceed. Our clinicians should be able to advise you on how to get more out of your treatment, or offer an alternative treatment that might suit you better.
You shouldn’t use Driclor solution on dry, unbroken skin - this might result in a burning sensation. If that happens, wash the area with plenty of water and try again once it’s dry and the burning sensation has stopped.
Driclor solution is to be used topically only. If you accidentally apply it to your eyes, mouth, or nostrils, rinse well with water.
If you use too much Driclor or swallow it, it shouldn’t be dangerous, but contact your clinician either way if you’re worried. The toxicity level is low, and adverse effects are only observed when large doses are taken.
