Priligy is the first pill marketed towards men who suffer from premature ejaculation. It’s a type of treatment called an SSRI, or a selective serotonin receptor inhibitor. While other SSRIs on the market are off-label treatments for premature ejaculation, Priligy is prescribed specifically to treat it. Just take it before sexual intercourse to increase the time it takes for you to reach orgasm.
The main ingredient in Priligy is dapoxetine. It’s a type of treatment known as a selective serotonin uptake inhibitor, or an SSRI. These reduce the amount of serotonin reabsorbed by serotonin transporters, increasing its transmission around your body.[1] As serotonin is the most important neural transmitter involved in ejaculation control, more of it in your body should help you last as long as you’d like.
You can get Priligy in either 30mg or 60mg doses. Evidence shows both of these doses are very effective at treating PE. The time it took men to ejaculate during intercourse was significantly longer than with placebo for both.[2]
A review of dapoxetine (the active ingredient in Priligy) looked at control and satisfaction levels of men taking it. Its effectiveness was measured through ‘perceived control’ over ejaculation, as well as increase in ‘ejaculatory latency time’ (how long it actually took to climax, timed using a stopwatch).
In men for who the treatment worked, 67% said they had either better or much better control over when they climaxed, and 74% rated their satisfaction with intercourse as ‘good’ or ‘very good [2]

Taking Priligy is easy and convenient. Simply take a Priligy tablet between one and three hours before you have sex and you’re good to go. You can take Priligy with or without food. It’s recommended that you take it with a full glass of water to prevent a bitter taste in your mouth. Priligy isn’t appropriate for women, or people older than 65.
Your doctor will prescribe you 30mg of Priligy when you’re first trying out this medication. If you still aren’t lasting as long as you’d like, your doctor can increase your dose to 60mg (as long as you’re tolerating the medication well.)
Once you take your Priligy tablet, you should only have to wait an hour until you feel its effects. After one to two hours, Priligy will be at its highest level in your body, and you’ll get the maximum benefit from it for up to three hours after taking your tablet.
You should only take one dose of Priligy a day, as your clinician has instructed. If you accidentally take more tablets than you’re told to, you should tell your pharmacist. You might experience side effects like heavy drowsiness (somnolence), nausea, sickness, a tremor, agitation, or dizziness.[1]
