Ultraveen itch relief can help treat eczema symptoms like dry skin, blisters and (as suggested by the name) itching. It contains two moisturising ingredients: urea and colloidal oatmeal.
Eczema is a common condition worldwide, but its exact cause is not fully understood. It makes your skin less able to retain water, resulting in dryness, inflammation, and itching.[1] To relieve itching, people often scratch their skin, but this can lead to more inflammation, which causes more itching, ultimately resulting in what’s called the itch-scratch cycle.
Dyshidrotic eczema is a type of eczema that mainly affects your hands and feet. It’s characterised by blisters that can be filled with liquid. When scratched, these blisters can pop, resulting in inflamed, irritated and painful skin. It can also cause infections, which can further worsen your eczema symptoms.
Ultraveen can prevent the worsening of your symptoms by helping to provide instant relief from itching.
How does Ultraveen Itch Relief Cream work?
Ultraveen Itch Relief Cream has two ingredients which help treat your eczema symptoms.
Urea – A natural molecule found in the layers of your skin. It has hygroscopic properties, which means it’s capable of absorbing water. It also prevents water loss from your skin’s surface.[2] This helps moisturise and hydrate your skin, improving your skin barrier function.
Colloidal oats – Their anti-inflammatory and antipruritic (anti-itch) properties help lessen the swelling and itching that’s associated with eczema. This also prevents you from scratching, helping to break the itch-scratch cycle. Additionally, it can help balance your skin’s pH level and promote the production of natural ceramides, which are important for maintaining healthy skin.[3]
Overall, both urea and colloidal oats help relieve eczema symptoms and repair your skin barrier function.

How to use Ultraveen Itch Relief Cream
Before using the cream, make sure your eczema isn’t infected. Don’t apply it to large areas of skin that are extremely red. And don’t apply it to your breast if you’re breastfeeding.
To use Ultraveen Itch Relief Cream, follow the directions below:
Apply a generous layer of cream to the affected area. Don’t apply it on open skin.
Gently stroke downwards to help your skin absorb it. Don’t rub it in, as this can irritate your skin.
Re-apply two or three times a day.
For best results, use it straight after a warm bath or shower.
If your eczema hasn’t improved or you’re still itchy after two weeks, let your clinician know. They might recommend an alternative treatment for you.
How long does Ultraveen Itch Relief Cream take to work?
As soon as you apply Ultraveen to your skin, it should feel instantly moisturised and hydrated. You should feel less itchy too. But if you’ve still got symptoms after a couple of weeks, stop using it and get in touch with your clinician for advice.
Although your symptoms should improve short-term, eczema is typically a lifelong condition. So symptoms may flare-up or reappear over time. You might also require additional treatments with steroids or antibiotics if your symptoms are severe.

FAQ: Ultraveen Itch Relief Cream
Have something specific you want to know? Search our info below, or ask our experts a question if you can’t find what you’re looking for.
How does Ultraveen Itch Relief Cream compare to other treatments for dyshidrotic eczema?
Answer:
When it comes to treating dyshidrotic eczema, there’s no one-size-fits-all treatment. Everyone’s treatment plan should depend on the type and severity of their condition. Typically, though, a clinician will prescribe topical steroids, which can vary in strength. Stronger options like Dermovate or Betnovate, or weaker ones like Eumovate or hydrocortisone, may be prescribed depending on the severity of your eczema. Steroids work by blocking inflammatory molecules, which can reduce inflammation, itching, and redness. Other ways to help treat eczema include: regularly applying emollients, bathing, or wet wrap therapy (WWT). WWT is the process of wrapping the affected area with a wet bandage. This helps retain moisture and prevents water from escaping your skin's surface.
How well does Ultraveen Itch Relief Cream work to treat eczema?
Answer:
Many studies have shown urea and colloidal oats to be effective ingredients for reducing eczema symptoms and improving the skin barrier. In a review of 81 studies, urea was shown to be an effective treatment for improving eczema symptoms. The patients in the studies also reported that it instantly moisturise their skin and provided almost instant relief from itching. [1] In another study of 61 patients, 30 received the 1% colloidal oat eczema cream, and 31 received a standard moisturiser. By the end of 14 days, colloidal oat cream reduced the severity of eczema by 51%. Additionally, it improved the patient's pH levels, hydration, skin barrier function and reduced infection rates.[2] The study concluded colloidal oats can significantly repair the skin and help treat eczema symptoms.
