What is Complan?
Complan is a food supplement packed with vitamins and minerals. It’s perfect for adults who struggle with low appetite or don’t get all the necessary nutrients, vitamins and minerals from their usual meals. It works best when combined with a balanced diet and regular meals.
You can mix the powder with whole milk or add it to your favourite foods for that extra nutritional boost. Complan shake contains a wide range of essential nutrients including vitamins B6, B12 and iron, which help you feel energised and reduce fatigue.[1]
You have different options to prepare a serving of Complan shake to suit your taste and calorie needs. When you use water, one serving (57g of powder) has about 250 calories (kcal), and if you prefer using 200ml of whole cow’s milk, you’ll get 381 calories (kcal). It’s also gluten-free and suitable for vegetarians, with no artificial colours, sweeteners or preservatives.
How does Complan work?
Complan is loaded with vitamins and nutrients. So when you have a serving of Complan, you’re essentially getting all the nutrients you’d get from a regular meal. You can take Complan instead of a meal to keep your weight in check when you’re not able to eat, or you can use it to help you put on some healthy weight while still eating your regular meals.
Complan contains 26 essential vitamins and minerals, all of which you’d find in a balanced light meal. It has B vitamins to fight fatigue, vitamin C and iron to boost your immune system, protein for strong muscles, calcium and vitamin D for healthy bones, and many other ingredients.
That’s why fortified supplements like Complan are often recommended for people who are either dealing with malnutrition or at risk of it due to other health issues (like illness or after surgery). Malnourishment can be a serious concern, especially for older people, as they might find it hard to eat, make a meal or absorb nutrients due to various conditions like cancer, digestive issues or depression.
What flavours of Complan are there?
Complan is available in five different flavours: chocolate, strawberry, banana, vanilla and original. It comes in packs of 4 sachets containing a powder that you mix with milk or water. Each sachet of Complan (one serving) contains 57g of powder.
Our clinical team will give you instructions on how to prepare and take Complan. Depending on your specific needs and weight goals, you may be prescribed one to three servings of Complan a day to take as a supplement after your meals or in-between them as a snack. It’s best not to replace more than one meal a day with a Complan, unless your clinician has advised you to.
