Migard is a branded tablet treatment that provides symptom relief for migraines. Migraines are a moderate-to-severe headache that usually involve throbbing pain in one side of the head. They can also often be accompanied by increased sensitivity to light and sound, as well as feelings of nausea.

How does Migard work?

Migard works to counter these symptoms by binding to your brain's serotonin receptors; narrowing the blood vessels around your brain and blocking the transmission of pain signals.

How to take Migard
You should always take Migard exactly as instructed by our clinician, or according to the advice of your patient information leaflet.The recommended dose for adults is one tablet, at the onset of symptoms. If symptoms persist or reappear, you can take another tablet after waiting for at least two hours. Don’t exceed two tablets per day.To take Migard, simply swallow the tablet whole with a drinkable liquid (with or without food).
How long does it take Migard to work?
Frovatriptan, the active ingredient in Migard, typically gets to work in under two hours to treat your symptoms. If your symptoms don’t improve you should wait at least two hours before taking another dose.
What should I do if I make a mistake when taking Migard?
If you accidentally take too much Migard you should seek medical help straight away.As Migard isn’t a schedule-based treatment you shouldn’t worry about forgetting any doses.

How is Migard different from other treatments for migraines?

All triptans (the class of medication that Migard belongs to) have a similar method of action, but you might find that different active ingredients suit you more or less depending on your needs.
Frovatriptan (the active ingredient in Migard), though, differs from other triptans in that it stays in your body for longer, with a half-life of around 26 hours (compared to 3-6 hours for other triptans).
