Canesten Thrush Internal Cream is a treatment for vaginal thrush that contains the active ingredient clotrimazole. Clotrimazole is an antifungal agent, belonging to a group of medications called azoles, that fights the fungus causing thrush and soothes the symptoms.
Clotrimazole, the active ingredient in Canesten Thrush Internal Cream, is broadly effective against candida albicans, the fungus that causes thrush infections. It fights the infection by causing the fungal cell wall of candida albicans to ‘leak’, disrupting its structure and function. This stops the infection from spreading, and starts to kill it off – dealing with it at the source.
Canesten Thrush Internal Cream only comes in one dose: 10% w/w (weight in weight). This means that 10% of the weight of the cream is the active ingredient clotrimazole. Each gram of cream also contains 35mg of cetostearyl alcohol, and 10mg of benzyl alcohol.
