What is Clenil Modulite?
Clenil Modulite is a corticosteroid asthma inhaler (usually just called a steroid inhaler) that prevents daily asthma symptoms such as wheezing and shortness of breath.
It’s used to treat mild, moderate, or severe asthma and contains the active ingredient beclometasone dipropionate. You can raise or lower your dose as you need – a clinician can advise you where to start. Steroid inhalers are for people who want to keep daily asthma symptoms under control and need more than a reliever to feel comfortable.
How do Clenil inhalers work?
Asthma is a condition that inflames the lungs, making it difficult to breathe properly. It’s fairly common (around 5.4 million people in the UK receive treatment for it) and usually starts from a young age.[1] Although it affects people to different extents, the symptoms are often the same for everyone that has it. Wheezing, or feeling chesty, is the most recognisable sign that your airways are inflamed and need to be treated.
Steroid inhalers reduce this inflammation and allow you to breathe more comfortably. Clenil Modulite is a steroid inhaler that you take regularly to help control asthma. When you take it, you’ll also need to carry a second inhaler (called a reliever) in case you get symptoms or have an asthma attack.
What kind of inhaler is Clenil Modulite?
Steroid inhalers are often referred to as ‘brown inhalers’. The colour of your inhaler will depend on the dose you choose, but this term is often used to distinguish preventer inhalers from the typically blue relievers.
Brown inhalers, or preventers, work by improving your reactions to asthma triggers. Clenil Modulite will stop your airways from swelling and keep your inflammation down, allowing your breathing to stay relaxed. This will help you do everyday tasks much easier, and it can improve your ability to exercise. Maybe most importantly, it’ll help you get a restful night’s sleep.
Which dose of Clenil inhaler is best for me?
Clenil Modulite is available in four different strengths: 50mcg, 100mcg, 200mcg and 250mcg, although we currently only supply the 100mg, 200mg, and 250mg doses.
Our experts can help you choose which dose is best for you depending on how much your asthma symptoms are bothering you.
It’s important you stick to the suggested dose and see if things improve. If you feel like you need more, or less, you can switch doses easily with the help of our clinicians. Asthma affects people differently so it’s common to make adjustments to your treatment.
