What is Lenzetto?

Lenzetto is a form of HRT (hormone replacement therapy) which is suitable for women who’ve either had no period for the last six months, or a hysterectomy. What makes Lenzetto unique is that it comes as a spray, whereas other HRTs will usually either be pills, patches or gels.

Lenzetto is an oestrogen-only form of HRT, that helps you deal with the symptoms of the menopause. So if you’re struggling with hot flushes, sleep disturbances, sexual problems or mood swings, Lenzetto can help.

How does Lenzetto work?

Lenzetto is made from estradiol - a synthetic form of oestrogen. Each spray dispenses 90mcl of the liquid, which contains 1.53 mg of estradiol. Lenzetto spray works transdermally. This basically means that you just spray it onto your skin and the active ingredient absorbs through the top layer (called the dermis) and into your bloodstream.

When you go through the menopause, your body stops producing oestrogen at the same level that it used to, which contributes towards your symptoms. Lenzetto replaces your natural oestrogen in order to reduce these symptoms.

What doses of Lenzetto are there?

Lenzetto spray bottles only come in one size, but how many sprays you need per day will depend on your symptoms. Your clinician will usually recommend you start on the lowest dose, which is one spray per day. Using the lowest dose needed to help your symptoms can reduce the risk of side effects.

If you’re using multiple sprays per day, it’s best to apply them all at the same time. Just spray them on separate spots on your inner forearm, for as many sprays as you need.

How to use Lenzetto

Always read the patient information leaflet that comes with your medication, and talk to your clinician if you have any questions.

• The best place to apply Lenzetto is on your inner forearm. Remember the skin needs to be clean, dry and healthy. If your inner forearm isn’t suitable, your inner thigh is a good alternative.
• If you’re using your container of Lenzetto for the first time, prime the applicator by spraying it into the air three times.
• Before spraying Lenzetto, take off the cover, hold it upright and press the plastic cone of the applicator against your skin.
• Push the button down fully and hold it down before releasing.
• If you’re spraying Lenzetto multiple times, move the cone along your forearm. If you run out of space, you can use your other forearm or your inner thigh.
  When you’ve finished, put the cover back on the container.
• Leave the spray on your skin for two minutes, and wait 60 minutes before bathing or showering.

How long does Lenzetto take to work?

Lenzetto is absorbed into your bloodstream quickly, but it may take some time for you to notice a difference. Your clinician should review your Lenzetto dose every three-to-six months to make sure it’s still right for you.

What should I do if I make a mistake while using Lenzetto?

Make sure not to rub the spray into your skin. If you get any on your hands while applying it, you should wash them with soap and water. Cover your skin with clothing two minutes after you spray Lenzetto. If anyone comes in contact with your skin, they should wash the area with soap and water.

If you forget to use Lenzetto, use it when you remember, unless it’s nearly time for your next dose. Then keep using it as normal. If you accidentally use too much, contact a clinician for advice if you have any worrying symptoms.
