The natural HRT option.

Utrogestan is a type of HRT called micronised progesterone. It’s used with oestrogen to treat menopause symptoms.
Have a chat with us about your health concerns, and we’ll suggest some treatments tailored for you. Order Utrogestan online and get it delivered whenever you want.
Utrogestan is a micronised progesterone that you take orally as a soft capsule. You take it alongside an oestrogen to help reduce symptoms of menopause and replace hormones. Progesterone is a type of hormone that helps to regulate your cycle and normally prepares your uterus for pregnancy.
A micronised progesterone is naturally derived from plants that are biochemically identical to what you produce in your hormones. This is known as being ‘body identical’. Compared to a progestin which is a synthetic, Utrogestan has been noted to be better at reducing the risk of breast cancer.
Utrogestan is used during ‘post-menopause’, which is when it’s been more than a year since your last period. The average age that women in the UK go through menopause is between 45 and 55.
It’s only usually used by women who haven’t had a hysterectomy. If you’ve had a hysterectomy, you’d only need to use oestrogen – not a combined therapy in which Utrogestan is used.
Do not take Utrogestan if you’ve ever had abnormal vaginal bleeding, breast cancer, or cancer in the womb.
During menopause, the female hormones oestrogen and progesterone in your body go down which can cause symptoms. When you take Utrogestan with an oestrogen it’s called combined HRT, which helps to replace these hormones and reduce symptoms.
When you take oestrogen it builds up the lining of your womb which can cause issues like womb cancer. By taking Utrogestan, which contains the active ingredient progesterone, it sheds the womb lining like a period that prevents this risk.
How we source info.
When we present you with stats, data, opinion or a consensus, we’ll tell you where this came from. And we’ll only present data as clinically reliable if it’s come from a reputable source, such as a state or government-funded health body, a peer-reviewed medical journal, or a recognised analytics or data body. Utrogestan can make you feel sleepy so it’s best to be taken at bedtime on an empty stomach.
There are two ways to take Utrogestan:
Sequentially:
Continually:
If you have missed a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it’s nearly time to take the next dose, then just skip the missed tablet.
If you’ve taken a double dose or more than you should, talk to your doctor or go to the hospital.
You can get Utrogestan as an oral tablet or a vaginal tablet (called a pessary).
There are other brands of progesterone that come in a gel such as Progestogel, but these are mainly used to treat breast conditions.
If you’re using combined HRT, you can get patches and tablets that contain both an oestrogen and a progesterone. But these might not contain the same type of micronised progesterone that’s in Utrogestan.
