Menopause is caused by low levels of oestrogen and progesterone in women. These low hormone levels cause a variety of symptoms in postmenopausal women including hot flushes, night sweats and an increased risk of osteoporosis. Trisequens is a hormone replacement therapy treatment used to reduce these symptoms.
Trisequens combines estradiol with norethisterone acetate in a hormone replacement therapy treatment with a 28-day cycle. Estradiol is identical to the estrogen that is naturally produced in your body. Norethisterone acetate is a synthetic progestogen that closely mimics the progesterone that is naturally occurring in your body. Together, these hormones work to increase your hormone levels to reduce or eliminate your postmenopausal symptoms.
Trisequens comes in 28-day cycles. It’s a cyclical or sequential HRT product. The oestrogen is dosed continuously (daily) but in two different dosages. The progestogen is only added for 10 days of every 28-day cycle.
The hormones in Trisequens increase the oestrogen and progesterone in your body. This reduces the symptoms associated with menopause. It also reduces the risk of osteoporosis, which can cause brittle bones.
Trisequens is a sequential combined pill for hormone replacement therapy. It is often prescribed for postmenopausal women who have symptoms of the menopause but still have irregular bleeding. It’s not an appropriate treatment for women who have a history of certain cancers, blood clots, heart attack, stroke or liver disease. If you have porphyria or an allergy to any ingredients in Trisequens, you shouldn’t take it.

Treating menopause symptoms with Trisequens is straightforward. It comes in 28-day pill packs that should be taken in order. Take your pill around the same time each day with a glass of water.
If you miss a dose of Trisequens, take it within 12 hours. If more than 12 hours have gone by, resume your pills the next day. Never take a double dose to make up for a missed dose. If you take more Trisequens than you’re supposed to, contact your doctor for guidance.
Don’t stop taking Trisequens without talking to your doctor first. They will advise you about the effects of discontinuing treatment and discuss other treatment options for you.
Women who take Trisequens often experience reduced postmenopausal symptoms. This sequential hormone replacement therapy treatment is as effective as continuous hormone therapy replacement options .
Trisequens isn’t available in different doses. It contains 2mg of estradiol and 1mg of norethisterone acetate in each pill. Taking your Trisequens at the same time each day maintains your hormones levels to reduce or prevent postmenopausal symptoms.
