Desunin is a treatment or supplement, which can provide vitamin D to you if you want to prevent your levels from dropping, or if you have a condition where severely low levels of vitamin D have given you bone problems.
Vitamin D is one of the essential vitamins and minerals that our bodies need to function properly. It’s vital for healthy bones, teeth and muscles. Low levels are associated with everything from bone deformities to depression.
How does Desunin work?
Desunin contains colecalciferol (vitamin D3) which works to increase the amount of calcium and phosphate in your body to keep it working properly.
Using supplements to keep vitamin D levels from dropping during those dark months can help you to maintain your health. It can also treat conditions where severe vitamin D deficiency has set in, such as certain bone conditions.
What doses of Desunin are there?
Desunin is available at Treated in two dosages: 800 IU and 4,000 IU. Desunin 800 IU is used for prevention and 4,000 IU as a treatment for severely low vitamin D deficiency. All dosages are only available on prescription and their use will need to be monitored by your prescribing clinician.

How to take Desunin
Desunin is usually taken daily. If you’re taking the higher dosage to treat vitamin D deficiency, then you will need to take it 1-4 times daily for a few weeks, followed by 1-2 daily doses of the lower, maintenance dose. If you are just taking Desunin to maintain healthy levels of vitamin D, then you will usually only need to take 1 or 2 daily doses.
You should always take Desunin as instructed by our clinician. If you’re unsure, let your prescriber know.
Desunin comes in tablet form, which should be swallowed with water. It’s recommended that you take Desunin with a meal in order to get the best out of it.
How long does it take Desunin to work?
The length of time it will take to feel the benefits of Desunin will depend on your current vitamin D levels, and the dosage that you take. It can take a few weeks to recover from vitamin D deficiency.
What should I do if I make a mistake when taking Desunin?
Although Desunin isn’t toxic, it can be life threatening if you take too much of it. This is unlikely to be an issue unless the dosage in question is particularly high, but you should seek medical advice if you’re worried you have taken too much.
If you happen to forget to take Desunin, and miss a dose - then don’t panic. Just wait until your next normal dose, and don’t double up to make up for it.

FAQ: Desunin
Have something specific you want to know? Search our info below, or ask our experts a question if you can’t find what you’re looking for.
How is Desunin different to other vitamin D supplements?
Answer:
Most low IU vitamin D supplements can be bought over the counter, whereas all dosages of Desunin require a prescription. Don’t worry it’s perfectly safe, but just not suitable for long-term use. Aside from that, Desunin is suitable for vegetarians.
Is Desunin similar to any other vitamin D supplements?
Answer:
Most vitamin D supplements contain the same active ingredient - Colecalciferol. This means that they work in similar ways to increase the amount of vitamin D in your body. But different supplements can suit different people, so talk to us about your needs and we can help you choose a vitamin D supplement that best suits your lifestyle.
Do I need a prescription for Desunin?
Answer:
Although Desunin is a perfectly safe and natural treatment, it isn’t suitable to use over a longer period of time, so it requires a prescription. If you don’t have severely low vitamin D levels, it can also cause problems, some of which can be a serious risk to your health. Prescriptions allow our clinician to monitor your use, after which, you can switch to over the counter products after talking to us.
Which version and dose of Desunin should I use?
Answer:
The dose of Desunin that you should use depends on what you need it for. If you simply want to maintain your vitamin D levels, to prevent deficiency, then you should use the lower dose 800 IU, and if you want to treat an existing vitamin D deficiency, then you should be using the 4,000 IU treatment.
By taking the 800 IU daily supplement, you can avoid levels from dropping and the symptoms and conditions that this can produce. These include depression and fatigue.
Low vitamin D can lead to serious bone conditions, including osteoporosis. It has also been linked to deformities as well as brittle or easily broken bones. In these cases, a high dosage treatment of vitamin D, such as Desunin 4000 tablets, can be prescribed to take over a certain number of weeks.
Why should I buy Desunin online with Treated?
Answer:
Treated offers both types of Desunin to buy online, including the stronger 4,000 IU dosage. All you need to do is answer a few questions about your health and one of our clinicians will be able to offer you the most suitable treatments. Once you’ve chosen your treatment, they’ll put together a safe prescription that works for you.
You can set your own delivery schedule for Desunin, and select the amount of treatment you’d like to receive each time. We’ll make sure you get it when you need it.
